Purpose

About me

My online alias is Nomo Elasmo. I'm a Catholic man interested in applying the philosophies I study in the real world to the hobbies I interact with. Primarily, these would be video games and music. My politics precede from my Catholicism, so do with that information what you will. I know I'm not part of any particularly favored demographic, but who cares? The internet is a place for all, even a chump like me. I hope I can provide excellent quality to all who visit my site. I've never made a website before, so this is pretty new territory. But I think it'll be a helpful journey for me.

March 11th, 2026 update: I want this website to be a few things.

Firstly, I want to be able to use this as a place for people to purchase the DVDs & Blu-Rays of the productions I upload to sites like YouTube. For the modest price I intend to share them at, people will also get access to all the cool bonus features and sneak peeks like you would on a regular movie's DVD or Blu-Ray features. These are features that pretty much everyone tends to paywall with a monthly fee through sites like Patreon, but I would rather people just pay a one-time fee for physical access to the video and its additional content. I might even sell the soundtracks of the videos on CDs, as I intend to write as much original music for the videos as possible. And hey, great bonus: no ads whenever you come back to the video, because it's right there physically!

Secondly, I want this place to contain a discussion board -- like a forum of sorts -- where people can amicably and rationally discuss the subject matters of my videos and even suggest new topics to discuss. I want to start with video games, since that's what I know best, but I'd love to migrate to movies, TV shows, music, and even physical objects like a run of particular hardware from a company.

Obviously, at the time of writing, I don't even have my first video completed yet, as I am working very hard to get a few other projects on other channels out of the way before I dedicate my focus to this endeavor. But I am more passionate about this "Absolute Measure"/"Objective Analysis" series than anything else right now (except maybe writing music independently), so I want this to work in the future. And with the way the internet is headed, ads increasing, AI getting more prevalant, and pretty much all major platforms getting overrun with needless verification and censorship measures, this still seems like a viable way to do "business" - selling the physical media containing my videos. And hey, as a result of all this, certain things I would probably cut from the YouTube versions of the videos would actually be in the DVD version -- so even MORE bonus content!

Thirdly, I want to be able to discuss things with fans more frequently. I want an email portal open, I want a guestbook, I want... well, a LOT of things. Of course, the forums are where I'll communicate a lot, too, but an email portal doesn't sound like a bad idea right now. I'm going to eventually go through the painstakingly long process of making all the artwork I want for this website myself, too. It'll be a bit tedious, but I think I can do it. And, of course, moving away from Neocities is in the cards, but not until the very distant future, when I have the resources to self-host. Neocities is a pretty good starting point, I reckon. They do provide a very forgiving and inviting beginner's environment, after all.

That's pretty much it for right now. I hope I can maintain development of this overtime. I've got a lot of time buffer right now, but I do need to stay on this, because I know I'll forget. It'll be very funny taking pictures of the website development each and every day to eventually throw it up on the internet as a collage of sorts. Anyways, that's all for now. I'll keep cracking away at this tomorrow! I'll just have to find some tutorials... I'm sure Neocities has something anyway.

March 19th 2026 update: I've been trying to learn a bit more about website building, but life has been a bit busy lately. I want this to look better in the future, I just need to find some more time to format it well. On top of that, beginning my projects has been difficult with all the stuff to do around them. But I should be beginning the Commander Keen project in earnest soon. I have a small draft from a while back about CK1 that I'm gonna continue, and then I'll just go from there. I'll try to maintain updates where I can.

March 23rd 2026 update: I've been using the HTML Dog site for learning more about building this website into something better. It's been very helpful, I'm glad Neocities saw it fit to be put up in their tutorials area. As far as the video projects... well, I'm working on them. Working on other promised projects takes time, but soon I will be cracking away at Commander Keen and plenty of other things at some point. My goal is to be done with all things related to the other channels by June, at which point I can safely move back to composing music for video games and working on the Elasmo Chronicles. It's a long road, but I'm getting there. In the meantime, I'm gonna keep on believing in myself (something I'm not good at) and pushin' forward!

March 24th, 2026 update: Dude, you know what would be awesome? When I make my movies about certain game franchises, what if I made a bonus feature or built-in setting of some kind to view it in the "historical hardware-friendly format"? Like, if I'm making my Commander Keen videos... what if, on that disc, there's a setting or completely different video format that is constructed specifically for monitors and video capabilities of the early 1990s? I think that'd be awesome! Same goes for something like the Nintendo first-party Wii games. Outside of FHD support as a default (and probably higher for things like Blu-Ray), I could have a codec or a format of some kind that also allowed the video to be viewed in 480p, the definition it runs natively in. Perhaps I can even record two completely different videos, each on 16:9 support and 4:3 support for the Wii, and just try to make them mimic each other as much as physically possible so that the only differences are super minor and fans would have to look really hard for them. It sounds like a needless amount of trouble, sure, but it'd make the full release that much more special! Maybe a two-disc special: the 16:9 disc and the 4:3 disc, each with their own FHD & SD formats. I mean, why not, right? It would probably look killer on a CRT anyway!

Also, what if I was able to eventually make physical releases in more than just one format? I keep planning for DVDs because... well, it's a lot easier. But DVDs, for the most part, support resolutions up to HD. What if I made HD-DVDs for FHD, or Blu-Rays for even higher definitions? I know I've already made mention of those, but they're more of a pipe dream due to currernt financial and technical limitations. Still, if I allow myself to not be deterred by that limitation, and I think about it more, it sounds like a really awesome idea! Who knows... maybe even VHS formats, too! Mini-disc or laser disc releases could be a thing, too, as a super-special thing that is more of a "collectible" piece since the technology is far more antiquated, less used, and hard to get into.

May 7th, 2026: I haven't updated this place much. I haven't abandoned the project, I swear. I just have been working a ton on the actual projects themselves. Life got pretty busy. I'll be giving more updates soon, and trying to learn more about website design.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 15th, 2026: Sigh... perhaps I started this website too early. Regardless, I want this to remain up for the sake of developing this little hobby whenever I have time. Thing is, when is there time? I'm going to be housesitting for a family member soon, so I doubt I'll be able to do much until I'm home again. For work, the pile simply grows. I keep getting pulled into so many different directions. I think part of it is that all my hobbies are essentially forced into being potential career paths because I can't afford to perceive time as wasted. Even leisure is a form of work now. I'm not sure what to do, but I'll keep trudging along.

In the meantime, I did learn something new. I learned how to make a table! I know the contents are probably meant to be organized better in a list, but this is just a test of the function for me.

Goal for 2026: Finish the projects that bring me down so that my promises may be fulfilled.
Goal for 2027: Finish the first Nomo Elasmo documentary & the video game score I'm contracted to make.
Goal for 2028: Who knows?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

July 14th, 2026: Almost done with a project that consumes far too much of my time. Then, I'll be able to focus on so much more! In the meantime, I tested an embed from this old-school YouTube clone called KamTape. I dig it, it's cool, give it a watch! I hope it works when I save this change!
